Today, I'm actually getting some energy back, which is great. I was able to make breakfast, clean the kitchen, and do 3 loads of laundry, all before 11am. :) Starting to feel more like myself.
Every morning when I get up it seems as though my belly has gotten a little bigger. LOL It seems to do all of its growing at night haha. My skin is still horrid, but they tell me that should calm down soon. *crosses fingers*
I think today I am going to spend the day trying to get back to my old self. Gonna find quotes that I like and think about some opportunites that could be coming my way. One such opportunity has already been my way, but I turned it down because I just wasn't sure about it. Now I'm giving it some more thought. I don't think it will make me a whole lot of money, but maybe some pocket change. Anyhow, thats where I am today. :)
A first time mom's real situations, real mess-ups, real triumphs. Motherhood. Come on in if you dare!! :D

Good bye to you
Good-bye first Trimester!!!!! Wooohooo :) It feels wonderful. I still don't feel "pregnant" but knowing I'm progressing is wonderful. I have a little baby bump to prove it, although at this point, it just looks like fat LOL I'm a small framed woman to begin with, so right now it just looks like I gained 10 lbs haha. But I've only gained 3lbs, and apparently thats pretty good for a first trimester, especially considering the amount of stress I've been under.
My husband was looking at our baby names book yesterday. We are having trouble with names, as nothing seems to stand out just yet. Thank goodness we have 6 months to figure it out. And probably when the baby is born, we'll have a name all picked out for it, and look at it and have to change it b/c he or she just doesn't look like a ------ whatever name we've picked. I've heard that happens quite a bit.
We visited our family a bit this weekend and went on a roadtrip on sat, which is why I've been a little lazy on the blogging lately, sorry :) The family is so excited about the baby. Oh it makes me so happy to know that it is so loved already. My mother and step-father bought it some gifts already! I told them not to, so they decided they would buy me some toys and clothes, and if they didn't fit the decor or were to small for me, well I should just keep them till jan and they might fit SOMEONE. LOL They are too cute.
As for symptoms, well, I'm starting to feel like I may be getting a bit more energy. I'm still having trouble choking down chicken and red meat, and, well, pretty much anything at suppertime. Itchy Itchy skin, although its not dry, so I guess thats the baby growing and stretching my skin. They say its the size of a peach now! Interesting! I was in the supermarket the other day and was walking by the fruit. It was the size of a grape one week, and a prune, and a raspberry, and now a peach. Then I walked by the watermelon and almost had a panic attack when I saw the size of it :0 hehe

Feeling pretty good and thats the truth
Well, its not even 9am, and I've been to town and back, made and ate a big breakfast, did a load of laundry, and hung it out to dry. Its going to be a great day. Nice and sunny, and I'm feeling better than I have in weeks. Thank goodness.
I spent lastnight watching big brother {*sigh* can't beleive they brought Jesse back :( } and surfing the internet. I came across the coolest idea for finding out the sex of your baby. This woman got the ultrasound tech to seal the results in an envelope so she and her husband couldn't see it. She then took the envelope to her favorite baker, and told them to read the results, and make a cake with either blue or pink icing in the middle, depending on the result. They took the cake home and found out what their baby was by cutting into the cake! I thought that was so creative! Another couple got their results sealed at Christmas time, and went to the store. They picked out a pink onsie and a blue onsie, gave the cashier the results, and asked her to wrap up the correct onsie. On Christmas morning, they opened up the gift to find out what they were having!! Again, so fun and creative!!! Anyone else have any cool stories about how they or someone they know found out about the sex of their baby?

Sweet dreams are made of these
Ok so the new 'symptom' is crazy dreams!!! Not only are my dreams extremely strange, but I now eat in my dreams!!! I had this dream the other night that my Dad and brother were coming to pick me up, but I was a bit late getting ready. They were out in the car waiting and I put my shoes on and reached for the door. I decided at the last minute that I wanted some chocolate before I left, so I went over to the cupboard, and STUFFED my face full of this chocolate. Litterally, I was sporting chipmuck cheeks! And I could even taste the chocolate. LOL And out the door I went with my chipmuck cheeks. ?????
Another strange dream I had was I was standing behind a pregnant woman looking at her, and her belly was not very tall, but it stuck out from her sides by about 3 feet on either side!!!! I just stood there looking and thinking OMG I hope my belly doesn't sit like that!!! I mean seriously, these dreams are so far fetched, its actually quite amusing when I wake up and remember them.
Once again, we are on the fence with deciding if we want to find out the sex of the baby. I think it will be a last min decision. That seems to be the way I do things. :D
Today I am focusing on finding out more information about doulas and midwives. I don't think these services are available in my area (Yes, I live in THAT small of an area, its actually painful sometimes LOL) but I am still curious. Any stories you can tell me of your experience with either?
Lastnight, I ate pizza!!!! Not a big deal to most, but I am allergic to wheat, and have not been able to find a good pizza in over a year. There are some frozen gluten-free pizzas on the market, but I find the crusts either pretty tasteless, or very salty. I found a bakery in town that makes spelt crusts so I decided to give them a shot. I had to add my own toppings, which was nice because most of the ones on the market are kinda strange like spinach and cheese. It turned out wonderful!! It actually tasted like a regular pizza! I was so excited! Being wheat free is kinda tough, especially, once again, in a very small town where the gluten free section is about 2 feet wide..... So it was a small victory for me!!

I'm 12 weeks along now! Yeah! And I think the baby must be growing pretty good because my belly was so itchy lastnight, and its starting again today!! Pretty interesting! There was a scary incident lastnight though. In the middle of the night, my belly woke me up because it cramped up completely, just for a sec. It was really strange. But nothing since then, so I won't worry about it.
I still don't "feel" all that pregnant, but I guess that will change soon. We haven't really done too much yet. The baby's room is still the computer/treadmill room, and we didn't buy too much yet. We have no crib or anything like that, but we have a few months to get on all of that. We just wanted to wait until we were into the second trimester before we did anything, just in case.
We are still on the fence with whether or not we'll find out the sex of the baby. We change our minds all of the time. Our lastest is that we are not going to find out. We figured we'd do the baby's room in Winnie the Pooh, because that is pretty unisex. But when we told mom that we had changed our minds and that we were not going to find out, she was like "oh no, are you serious? :( " So I don't know. Tell me your stories about finding out the sex of the baby or not. We think it might be easier because it would make shopping easier. And I think it would start the bonding process earlier. But it would be pretty cool to not know until the last min. Ugh I don't know! LOL

What do we actually NEED and what just looks cool. What brands are best?
My husband and I have been doing a lot of window shopping, trying to get an idea of how much things like diapers, formula, wipes, etc, cost. We are also trying to figure out what are the best strollers, car seats, cribs, toys, etc are. There are so many brands and so many different types of each thing, its hard to keep it all straight. And its hard to know what you need, and what just looks cool. There are alot of cool things out there, but how practical are they? What's a good price? And what does that do??? Do I need that?? Haha this is how our shopping trips sound. As I get further along and start picking up things and when the baby is born, I plan on writing reviews on brands and items to let you know how things work and if they are worth the money, etc. And things change so fast. New things are coming on the market so rapidly that if you had a baby 2 years ago, there is going to be a ton of new stuff waiting for you and your second pregnancy. Feel free to leave comments about your favorite baby items and things you could not live without when you had your newborn.
A little aside: My husband and I went out of town on sat to a nearby city that offers a lot more shopping than our little town. We did our window shopping routine, and we came across the cutest thing I have ever seen. It was a baby plush chenille robe from Roots!

Sorry the picture isn't that great. Its directly from their website. The robe is white, so its good for a girl or a boy. Its so soft! Yes, I know its not at all practicle. Yes I know the baby is probably not going to be in it until its a few months old, and even then it won't stay in it for long, yes I know it will probably spit up on it or even worse, but I still could not resist!!!! What was your impulse buy?
July 2nd~Second OB appointment!
Feeling a lot better about baby's health, I got ready for my next OB appointment. We were able to see everything on the ultrasound, so this appointment should go pretty good. I get there, we go through the regular stuff, setting up next appointments, ultrasounds, blood work, etc. Then we try again to hear the baby's heartbeat. I'm 11.5 weeks now, so no problem. Well, he can't find the heartbeat again! I was very dissapointed. But because we saw everything on the ultrasound, I don't feel the need to worry. I have not had any major cramping or bleeding, so all must be well. At least thats the best way to think at this point. Although I don't think it would hurt for him to get a new doppler. LOL
June 17th First OB Appointment!!!!
I was very excited today to be going to my first OB appointment. We figured at this point we were about 11 weeks pregnant. I discussed my stress issues with work, and he agreed it was very stressful and unfair. We went through the regular appointment and then it was time to hear the baby's heartbeat! VERY exciting!! He looked at my belly and made a comment about me being small. I am a petit woman to begin with though. He looked around for the heartbeat and could not find it!! :'( I couldn't believe it. He said not to worry, that we usually don't hear the heartbeat until 11 weeks. I said I am around 11 weeks. He didn't say anything at all. He ordered an early ultrasound, and I was left thinking the worst, as I know the amount of stress I had been under. Its turned out to be the most stressful time in my life. And now I was left to wonder if my baby was even alive in there. I sat in my car in the parking lot and lost it. I am not a crier by any means, but with all the stress that had been going on, and now the possibility of my baby not doing well, ugh. I just couldn't hold it in anymore.
I got my ultrasound the next day. I was very lucky. My husband and I waited anxiously in the waiting room until it was our turn. The tech took me in first, and said she'd bring him in after the diagnostic part of the ultrasound was over. I know an ultrasound tech and she always comments on how people are always saying "ooh is that the baby? Wheres the baby? Is that its head?" etc etc and they find it very distracting, because they know right away as soon as they start if there is something wrong with the baby, She says she fully understands the excitement, but its also an exam where they are checking on the health of the baby, and it makes things difficult on them if there is something wrong. So I did not say a word during the test. Nothing at all. The tech did the exam and didn't say too much to me. It seemed like hours I laid there. Then she broke the silence with "well, you're definitely pregnant!" Thank god. She said that our dates were a little off though, that we were only about 9.5 weeks along. She called my husband in and turned the screen so that we could see. What an amazing thing to see a 9.5 week old fetus. The tech kept saying "wow, there is a lot of movement." My husband said "well, it takes after its mother then." I can never sit still lol. And there we watched that little baby kick its arms and legs around like crazy. Then she showed us the heart, and we watched it beat. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Then we heard the heartbeat. Ahhh. What a glorious sound. Turns out everything was ok. The reason he couldn't hear the heartbeat at his office is because we weren't 11wks like we thought, and if the baby moves a lot, it also makes it hard for them to hear the heartbeat. And my baby was having a dance party of its own.

June 1st. One of those days where everything falls apart!
Work pulled something really bad today and it made me very angry, sad, etc. I couldn't beleive that they would do this. But they did. So I had a terrible day, and then when I got home, it got worse. Seems as though without telling us, a company came and uninstalled our propane tank and took it away! We have owned our home for a year, and we were told that the tank was paid for and sold with the house. So we would only have to pay when we needed more propane. Well, after we called them up and asked why they did that, it turned out that it was always in the previous owners name and he obviously didn't pay. So rather than trying to get ahold of us and let us know what was going on, they came and took it. We have a propane stove, so its our only way to cook, and I was starving. They said they didn't tell us because they didn't have any contact information. Um, you sure knew where to go to pull it out of our yard didn't you? And it would take a few days for them to get a new one to us!!!! UGH! So after that, we had to go back to town to buy some supper. When we got back, I hopped onto the internet to surf and calm down from a crazy bad day. Oh wait. It got worse. Our internet was down! Awesome. We've all had those days. Didn't matter what you did, the day was predetermined to be crappy. And this was king of the crappy days.
May 11-May 31st
May 11 2009
During the next few weeks, I discovered that physically, things had already begun to change. I could no longer do certain things I had taken for granted, such as work out. I would usually walk on the treadmill for at least a half an hour, at 4mph, incline of anywhere from 5-11 with no trouble at all. Now, 10 min at 3mph, incline of 3 sent me staggering for water and rest. haha. I had been having weak spells at work, and morning sickness had set in, bigtime. Every morning at 8:45am it would start. Dizzy, weak, neausea, you name it. Some days I could hardly stand up. I was glad that the sickness waited till I was already at work, but its pretty hard to have morning sickness in my field. I work in a hospital setting with patients. One day I was so sick I not only had to sit down btw patients, I had to run to the bathroom and on my hands and knees, toss my cookies, while my student who had to follow me that day, and patients waited for me. I never ever vomit, so I was a bit surprised, but what can you expect from morning sickness. I did think this morning sickness was a little extreme, but everyone experiences it differently. I just thought that it was weird that it started at the exact same time every morning, and was more severe than I had read about. Oh well. Such is pregnancy I guess.
After the day I tossed my cookies at work, I decided that there is no point in taking my prenatal vitamins in the morning, because I get rid of them anyways. So the next day, I did not take them in the morning, and had planned to take them with supper. That morning was the first morning I wasn't ill!!!!! I couldn't believe it! So I took them with supper, and sure enough, I was sick all night instead. I did this for about a week before I went to my dr and told him what was going on. He asked me about my diet, looked over my blood work, and said that it was most-likely my prenatal vitamins that were making me so sick. He said that all my bloodwork is great, and since my diet and appetite were good, he said he'd rather see me get my vitamins through food. So he told me to keep red meat, tons of fruit and veggies, milk products, etc, and keep taking folic acid. Things will be just fine. I have a ton of allergies, so we figure it could even be a coloring in the pills that was making me so ill.
Since then, I have had no more morning sickness at all. My biggest problem so far is my hunger. Hunger does not exsist the way it used to. I feel fine, and then out of nowhere, all of the sudden my stomach hurts and I feel very nauseated. That means I'm hungry now!!! I always ate 5-7 times a day, even before I got pregnant, and now, its about the same, although some of the meals have to be a bit bigger now. Breakfast is the biggest change. A simple bowl of cereal used to do the job, but now I need a big breakfast like eggs, hashbrowns, toast, etc.

Mother's day 2009~Where my story begins!
The night before Mother's day, we all gathered at a family member's house for supper to celebrate. Everyone was having a good time, eating, laughing, teasing, etc, the regular close family stuff. Then my brother and my uncle got on to teasing my husband and I about when we were going to start having kids. My husband and I have been together for almost 6 years, but married for only 8 months at this time. You know how it is. As soon as you get married (and in our case, long before we got married) people start expecting kids. We always had something to get done before we started trying. First it was I want to finish school. That was pretty reasonable, so they left it at that. Then when I finished school, it was we want to get married. Then, after we got married, we wanted to go on a cruise, since neither of us had been on a real vacation before. This is where my mother said "oh come on guys, you're killing me!" Haha. So we did go on the cruise in march, and it was amazing. When we got back, we decided that yes, it was time, but we didn't want to worry about "trying" so we just decided not to try not to anymore. That way there was no pressure. I've heard of people who stress themselves out so much with basal temperatures and what not, that it takes the fun out of everything, and sometimes takes much longer to get pregnant. So we decided in April, we'll just see what happens.
So back to the supper. We were getting teased, and I don't remember what exactly I had said, but I teased about my husbands "slow swimmers," so who knows when it will happen. My family is really close so this was funny to all of us, even my husband. My mom kept looking at me funny and saying "oh I don't know..." Just the way she was looking at me......
As we all left, we were giving our goodbye hugs, and my mom said "happy soon-to-be Mother's day" to my grandma, meaning that Mother's day was not until tomorrow, and my uncle joked and said "Soon-to-be Mother's day, is there something you're not telling us?" We laughed and all went our separate ways.
That night I kept thinking about all the funny coinsidences that happened that night: the way my uncle and brother started teasing us out of no where about children, the happy soon-to-be Mother's day joke, and more importantly, the way my mom was looking at me. Its like she knew something!
I had taken a pregnancy test that turned out to be negative,a few weeks earlier, because I had some symptoms. Now things may get a little specific here, so if you don't care to know, please skip to the next paragraph! I had implantation bleeding, which was very slight, and I really just thought my period was going to start, but it didn't. To tell you the truth, I had no idea what implantation bleeding was. I had stumbled across it online later when I was trying to figure out what was going on. Also, my breasts were very tender. More than just PMS, but my PMS is never the same, so I wasn't sure. But my period didn't come, and the symtoms went away. I didn't think anything of my period not coming either, as I am pretty irregular.
So the morning of Mother's day, I got up and decided to take the pregnancy test, just for fun. So I took the test, and there was only one line. "Hmph. Worst Mother's day ever!" I grumbled. As I went to throw it out, I looked at it again. Wait, there is a very faint second line. What the heck?? But its so faint, it probably doesn't mean anything. Keep in mind, I was taking a test I bought at the dollarstore. LOL I decided I didn't want to spend a ton of money on tests, that I would just take a dollarstore one until I got a positive result, then I would go and get the pricey ones. So I turned the box over and read the directions again. It said "The intensity of the second line may vary, but still indicates a positive pregnancy test." OMG. OMG. Hubby was still asleep at this point. I debated whether or not to wake him up, for about half a second. So I woke him up and told him we had to go to town. He asked why, so I told him. Well, Hello for waking up fast! LOL I have never seen this man's eyes open so fast! LOL So in to town we went. We got to the drugstore right when it opened, and as we sat in the parking lot getting ready to go in, he saw some people he knew going in. We are both pretty private people (I say this as I am writting a blog for the world to see LOL Interesting!) so I decided I would go in. The person didn't know me. So I bought the test and we rushed home to take it. As we both towered over it in the bathroom, there it was. Positive. We were pregnant!!!!!
We are both very close to my mom, so we decided we'd tell her right away. She'd be the one that I would need if I miscarried anyways. So after my husband treated me to breakfast out, we went all around town trying to find something small that said Grandma on it. You have to understand something about my mom: she has wanted to be a grandma before she was even a mom. Seriously, when she was a kid, she said she wanted to be a grandma when she grew up LOL We couldn't find anything. Being that it was Mothers day already, most things had been picked over pretty good. There were a few large statues and things like that, but we wanted something small, incase things didn't work out. We had figured at this point that we were like 4 or 5 weeks pregnant, so it was still very early. As we were shopping, my energy level was dropping rapidly, and I was getting weak, and, well, grumpy. We were at it for hours and didn't find anything. At last we decided we'd just get some scrapbooking stickers that said grandma on it, and add it to her Mother's day card we already got her. Done deal. We left the front the same, but stuck the grandma sticker over the mom and then end of the card. We brought it over, and my husband filmed her reaction on his cellphone. She read the card out loud, quietly, and when she got to the end, her lips mouthed grandma, and she stopped, her mouth dropped, and then she looked up at us and said "NO FREAKING WAY!!" She was so excited. She got up and gave me a hug and then said "this is not a joke right?" LOL I would never do that to her! She gave my husband a hug too. She was quite disappointed when I told her that she couldn't tell anyone yet, except her BF who lives in a different area than us altogether. I wouldn't even let her tell my grandma or my uncle. LOL My brother and my step father were there when mom read the card, so they knew. But other than that, we wanted to keep it quiet, just in case.
When we got home that night, we were exhausted. What a day! We couldn't beleive how fast it was really. We only stopped trying not to get pregnant a little over a month before this. Wow. Most people try for a while first, and us? Our first cycle. We are very lucky. So much for those slow swimmers huh?
